Terms of use

Plain-English version. The lawyer-version follows at production launch.

What Embergrade is

Embergrade is a free, anonymous web tool that uses photos of your home to estimate wildfire risk and suggest mitigation actions. It’s an educated first pass grounded in NFPA 1144 and Firewise USA principles — not a professional inspection and not a legal certification.

Not a Firewise inspection

Our grade and recommendations are generated by AI vision plus a deterministic rubric. They can be wrong. They are not a substitute for a Firewise USA assessment, a structural engineer, an insurance adjuster, or a fire-protection professional. Decisions with material consequences — insurance, construction, evacuation — should involve a qualified human.

Acceptable use

  • Use it on properties you own or have permission to assess.
  • Don’t upload photos of people, license plates, or anything sensitive.
  • Don’t scrape, abuse rate limits, or attempt to circumvent cost guards.
  • Don’t resell or rebrand the output as a paid inspection.

No warranty

Embergrade is provided “as is.” We make no warranty that the grade, findings, or actions are accurate, complete, or fit for any particular purpose. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we’re not liable for damages arising from use of the site, including property damage, insurance outcomes, or decisions made in reliance on a report.

Reports and links

Reports live at /r/<id> for one year and are accessible to anyone with the link. Don’t share a link you wouldn’t want a stranger to see. To remove a specific report sooner, email hello@embergrade.tech with the URL.

Changes

We may update these terms as the product evolves. Material changes will be reflected here. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Oregon, United States, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
